The future is now!

Hello everybody!

I remember when I was a child, people always fantasized about the idea of the future. Hollywood cinema somehow had to do with it. We, the children at the end of the last century, imagined that the future would be hypertechnologized. We imagined that instead of walking, we would have backpacks or shoes that would make us fly to anywhere.

When I was about 20 years old, I sent an instant message for the first time. If the e-mail had already impressed me, sending an instant message impressed me even more, I remember exclaiming: "the future is now!"

Today there is nothing strange to send instant messages, the platforms to do so abound. What's more, a simple instant message is insignificant next to a video call.

Somehow I think my generation was very lucky, because we were able to experience these changes when we were young and somehow we remember what life was like before.

For example, in the past, the only way to remain reachable was a phone call. That somehow gave us time to focus on other things, like writing, reading, walking, observing, talking, seeking to be with people. Today with hyperconnection we are located on different platforms and for too many people. Many are offended if one does not respond instantly to an instant message.

I do not have a regressionist spirit, but having lived half of my life in an analogous way and the other half in the internet age, makes me want to escape connectivity many times to recover a little of the time that I used to have to think about my things and not, like now, that I feel that I must explain the reasons of my silences.
